      Babar Ali Khanna

Babar Ali Khanna has been integral to the sound of Coke Studio since its inception. Khanna has been playing the dholak, tabla and other eastern percussive instruments for over twenty years. Since then, he has been revitalizing eastern percussions and experimenting to create a soundscape that is intrinsic to not only Coke Studio, but contemporary Pakistani music.

Growing up in a musical family, Khanna’s charismatic style birthed 20 years ago, as the grandson of Late Ustad Inayat Hussain Nagarchi and the son of Mushtaq Ali Khanna. Featured at The BBC Philharmonic Orchestra in 2012 as a solo act, Khanna recorded his debut album with his father at the EMI Studio at the age of 17 years. And ever since 1996, started touring with legendary artists from across Pakistan including the likes of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Madam Noor Jehan.

Khanna is set to celebrate 10 years of Coke Studio as he is the only musician to appear on all seasons of Coke Studio. He returns in Season 10, weaving musical epics with his taals.
